Redesign of web​

Vattenfall is one of Europe's largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Project Nord aimed to bring clarity and enhance usability on the B2B website through new structure and design for shared pages such as the homepage, customer service, environmental pages, and more. The goal was to provide users with a sense of "One Vattenfall".​

My role

I worked with two other designers in an agile development team, engaging in research, user interviews and testing. I conducted an extensive review of the design system and designed new components. I took a comprehensive approach to accessibility and maintained close collaboration with developers and stakeholders.

Challenges

The preliminary investigation was extensive but lacked well-founded data, such as user tests, statistics and interviews. Therefore we needed to take a holistic approach to the challenge, ensuring that our solutions were based on actual user needs.

We also discovered significant deficiencies in the design system that required some work. This served as the foundation for further work on the design system.

By addressing these issues, we aimed to refine our project approach and deliver solutions that were more closely aligned with user requirements.

Method

Our project was rooted in Design Thinking, beginning with user interviews and analysis of Google Analytics data. We collaborated closely with customer service and stakeholders through workshops when creating solutions and mapping out the different needs.
We created several prototyps that were tested with users from different parts of Vattenfall.

We finalized designs for development, updated UI elements and ensured alignment with user needs and project goals.

Outcome

A new customer service solution that guides and assists users through the process. By implementing this innovative user flow, we were able to demonstrate tangible improvements in user experience.

One of our key achievements was uniting stakeholders from various business units, each with their own visions and goals, around a shared focus: meeting user needs. Through a series of workshops and involvement we fostered collaboration and alignment among them.

We created modules across all corporate websites with enhanced accessibility features and updated UI elements. We redesigned the structure of the corporate website to streamline navigation for users and enhance the sense of cohesion across the entire platform, embodying the concept of "One Vattenfall."
